a small project turned big
One of the most remarkable masterpieces created by a favourite student of mine truly stands out. We began with a simple idea of using modeling clay to craft a landscape. However, my student suggested a more adventurous twist: creating a kayak. Inspired by this suggestion, we dove into our search online and discovered a stunning photo of a kayak gliding over the sea.
Fueled by excitement, we set to work, transforming our vision into reality using clay and a wooden board. The process was a delightful collaboration, filled with creativity and enthusiasm. In the end, we were both incredibly proud of what we had achieved together—a beautiful representation of our combined efforts and shared imagination. This project not only showcased our artistic skills but also highlighted the joy of collaboration and the magic that can happen when ideas come together.
I wrote a short explanation to our project to his parents. Hello. Just sharing because I am in awe with how Wynn decided to make this art piece. He looked for a photo as an inspiration, decided to do a bird's eye view, experimented with textures, suggested layering technique, paused and decided what to add more to his work. I am so happy to witness such perceptive critical thinking on a 6 year old boy.
His mom later replied, Thank you for this amazing piece of work, Mr. Jonathan. On top of the impressive outcome, we love that it reflects Wynn's thought, his passion in nature, and the fact that he put you and him in the art. It shows how strong the bonding you guys have.
Reflecting on my project, I am reminded of a transformative trip I took to the captivating island of Krabi. Accompanied by a close friend, we embarked on an adventure through a stunning mangrove forest. The experience was deeply enriching, and it opened my eyes to the beauty of nature and the joy it brings.
During our tour, I was eager to explore the clear waters of the sea, so I asked our guide if I could take a swim. He gave me the green light, yet cautioned me about the presence of saltwater crocodiles. That warning resonated with me, and I opted against swimming, realizing that some adventures are best enjoyed from a safe distance. Instead, we decided to row our kayak back to shore after an hour of exploring the lush surroundings, filled with the sounds of nature and the thrill of discovery.
This trip to Krabi was more than just a vacation; it was a journey of self-discovery. I learned that my love for nature is profound, and it fuels my desire for happiness and fulfillment. The project we worked on, building a kayak, serves as a powerful reminder that when we pour our hearts into creating something meaningful, it can truly become something great.
In essence, both the kayak project and my adventure in Krabi illustrate that embracing our passions and fostering creativity can lead to remarkable outcomes. Let's continue to strive for greatness, drawing inspiration from our experiences and the beauty that surrounds us.
