postcard perfect
I have many memories of a sunflower field. I remembered my first photo against this background in Hua Hin. Then in another place where I was on top of a structure with a frown. Looking back, I decided to smile in my future photos as it was very sad to see my expression when the field was so majestic. Two years ago, I also visited one in Khao Yai and it was the last day as the flowers were already withering. That was my birthday.
Some years back, I was gifted two sunflowers plants by a student's mum and they looked stunning in my balcony until they all withered and died. I also remembered taking photos of them from a petrol station during a short stopover.
But the best thing about sunflowers was the story I read about dying and grief. The seeds were used to commemorate the main character and through this story, I started to have a fondness for sunflowers. It's a beacon of hope and start. It's a symbol of beauty. There's a meaning attached to it, and it's the meaning of living.
