perspective
I was working at the atelier when two children came to the room to explore the torchlights. After some time, they found some shells and started looking at them. It became more interesting when they discovered they could shine the torchlights on the shells. Then, there was a lot of awe as both said, "Beautiful!"
I sat in the corner, observing the children as they focused the lights on the top part and the inside of the shell. They looked at many possibilities but were more interested in how the light shined through the shells.
After some time, they left, and I was still seated in the corner, reflecting on how the children approached the materials. They were ordinary items, but the magic was beyond description. I was enthralled at how the faces of the children lighted up as they discovered one thing after another. It was pure and sublime.
I used to see things in a more magical sense as I discovered many unfamiliar things: gifts, compliments, newly bought things, interests, and even the non-material things in life such as friendship, relationships, and love. However, I lost it.
I won't be giving up, though, as I try to find ways to make myself happy, a mindset perhaps, or a new outlook in life. A new friend could help or a new hobby to be busy with. Each step is a new beginning, and new beginnings need a detachment from our past lives of failures, disappointments, and negative mindsets.
Though this will be difficult threading the path to new beginnings, let me start by taking away the pains so I can start seeing the colours I lost these past few years. My reds and yellows are muddy, while my blues and greens are murky. It takes a new perspective and interest to begin anew. Like the children, it's a new perspective to see things differently.
