Windows
Windows remind me of home, many years ago. One fond memory was the story of a huge bird flying around the house as observed by two of our house helpers one quiet night. My grandfather suggested that the bird was guarding our safety as something unpleasant was about to happen, and it didn't materialize.
I remember the day when I was peeling fruit by the window when the apple started to turn white. Baffled, I looked out and saw a winter scene which I only see in books. Our red car, which was parked right outside, was no longer that colour. It was volcanic ash and it was brought by strong winds as there was an eruption hundred of miles away.
There was also a time when my sister and I heard an eerie sound as if coming from a pig. When we looked out of the window, we actually saw a huge pig running down the street and in a matter of seconds, an earthquake rocked the ground. We were indeed frightened.
I fondly remember a story told to me numerous times by my father about how the windows of our old house looked like during a storm. We would marvelled as to how he described the incident and would always compare the movement of the wind against the window as something terrifying. The windows would ballooned and all that they could do was to pray. With all the chaos, there would always be calm.
In my travels, I looked out of the bus' or train's windows to see scenarios of tranquility brought about by nature with its greens and shades of colours. As the wind blew on my face, it reminded me of the beauty that God created and that I am also a part of His creation whose admiration to what I witnessed along the way made me in awe of His greatness.
There was an instance when my students saw a hummingbird flying in and out of a nest it was building. Through the glass window, the children witnessed how the nest was weaved from straw, small branches, strings and dry leaves. It was beautiful to see the children with their amazed faces and equally encouraging to see them arranged along the window pane natural materials and flowers to compliment what the bird was making. It was an awesome experience.
The perplexities of life are a result of how we look at things, inside and out. The windows that we open may lead us to great opportunities and incoming challenges. The windows that we close may sever relationships, a signal for closure, or a sign of acceptance. Whichever way, we direct our destiny and we choose our own path.
Live, lead and be happy.

Salamat sa pagiging bahagi ng blog ko. Celebrating 10 years of my blog Written Feelings...
It is worth the while to stop and take a look at the window.
My favorite among these Window stories, is that one with the kids and the nest outside. Oh how good it must have felt seeing their amazement how things are created in front of their eyes.
