Black House

Once you have visited the White Temple, then it is time for you to proceed to the Black House, literally translated from Thai, Baan Dam. Eccentric and strange-looking would be two of my most used words to describe this huge place.  

Though it was the only one with a hefty entrance, I still went in for curiosity sake.  I was told that it was a must-see and it was.  Let me walk you through the immense garden and marvel at the fascinating structures built by Thawan Duchanee, a Chiang Rai native.

The biggest structure housed all that was eerie and dark ranging from skulls, animal parts, hides, bones, and stuffed animals not just placed for display but made into interesting artworks.  

One that interest me most were the number of smaller structures that looked like houses.  They were all closed for the public and only the outside could be seen.  

It was appealing to my senses as to the details of each door, the window, the walls or the pillars that made up those 'houses'.  I supposed they were 'rooms' interspersed among the majestic ground of the Black House. 

There was nothing religious to all that were shown but they spoke about the darkness of humanity.  It was an artist's perspective and through his eyes, we see what we sometimes shut our eyes off.
