The Boy and His Friend

A boy who was in the garden playing with a stick, making doodles on the small patch of dirt vacated by the green grass looked up to see a lively bird.

"Hello, my friend," greeted the boy who was mesmerized by the lovely song of the lone bird.

"Tweeet!", answered the bird with glee.

And from then on, the two of them became friends, and became closer than ever.

One autumn day, the little boy requested the bird to stay for a longer time though he knew that winter was coming.

The presence of the bird was making the little boy long for his short stays in the garden where it became routinary for him to sit, and wait, and listen, and bade goodbye.

A few weeks before winter, the boy was outside waiting for the bird to come but to no avail.  The bird wasn't around anymore, but probably flew with its friends far away from where they should be going.

After winter, the boy waited and waited for weeks but the bird did not appear as it was finally gone.  It might have been smiten by another bird of its love, or it finally found its old home.

For the boy, it was devastating but he knew in his heart that the memories of that friendship will linger throughout.

Cute story but sad at the same time.

Hello Mariaty, as a challenge perhaps, is to change the ending to a happy one and I will illustrate it next time.

Thanks for the visit, the first.

Such beautiful drawings with pure colors! It is a little bit sad story, but the new flowers opening in the last scene makes me happy. Have a good new week.

I thought that flower scene would be drowned by the ending but your positivity shows through your comment. Many thanks Miss Tomoko!

The drawings and colourings must be yours! So Avant Garde styled!! I like.
The boy must be you and the birdie is your friend. I hope the neighbour's cat did not eat the bird ok. Hang on there, the bird will fly back soon in different feathers to cheer the boy up!

The timing of both my parents' demise within 17 months had woken and shaken me up about life! Time and Tide Waits For No Man.

Excellent interpretation Mr. TM! Yes, they are my illustrations and thank you for the kind comments. Would like to do more but maybe if I make more stories and probably something happy next time.

I lost both my parents one after the next and it was devastating but knowing they are in a special place is enough for me to smile and be happy.
